Shari Shari is a popular dessert place with multiple locations around Hong Kong. In Central, it is located right beside the old police station, and in Mong Kok, it’s tucked away just behind the main road. You should definitely take into account that there might be a queue, especially in the Causeway Bay branch.

One bowl of Japanese shaved ice is massive and definitely enough to be shared between two people as a filling dessert. Costing between $120–$140 HKD, the shaved ice is like a lighter version of ice cream, packed with as many different hidden toppings stuffed inside as possible—whether it is milk pudding, cookies, red bean, or flavored syrup. You can also customise flavours when ordering, adding syrups, panna cotta or one of their other quirky but delectable toppings.

I personally am a huge fan of their deeper tea and nutty flavors, such as earl grey, matcha and hojicha. The syrups are incredibly creamy, and the ice is shaved so finely that you don’t even taste coarse ice grains; it just perfectly soaks up the flavor and feels incredibly fluffy in your mouth. I love the amount of variation you get within one dessert, these three flavours in particular are sweet but not overpowering.

I have also tried the black sesame, one of their seasonal specials, that is not constantly available in-store, I will admit while it is still delicious, there is a very strong and sweet black sesame flavour with a lot less variation, so if ordered I suggest ordering an additional syrup to add some variation.

Shari Shari, is one of my favourite dessert places to go to in Hong Kong, and if you have never been I highly recommend it.
