If you live in Hong Kong, you’ve likely heard of Zuma, especially given its reputation as a contemporary modern Japanese fine dining staple. We sat on the upper floor on a comfortable high table with a sofa seat. But is it really that good?
For food, I opted for the brunch menu, which comes with unlimited starters and refreshing raspberry iced tea.

First up was the edamame, which was absolutely delicious and tasted very fresh. Next was the beef tataki with truffle ponzu. Featuring extremely soft and tender beef, this dish was absolute perfection, I ended up ordering it multiple times, and it was easily my absolute favorite dish of the meal. Another standout was the fresh oysters. When I first tried them, they came with extra toppings, but I personally prefer to enjoy the natural flavor of the fresh oysters, especially with how delicious they were. When reordering, I simply requested the dressings on the side.

The fried tofu was slightly spiced, cooked to perfection, and incredibly soft. Meanwhile, the seared salmon was delicious, packed with a vibrant, strong lemon flavor that tasted as though it had just been caught. Finally, I tried the sushi selection, featuring fresh, soft cuts of tuna, salmon, and various other types of sushi that were all executed exceptionally well.

For the main course, I went for the spicy beef tenderloin, though I asked for the sauce to be served on the side. The beef tenderloin was so soft and tender it practically melted on my tongue! The flavor wasn’t overly overpowering, but it was still wonderfully flavorful.
To end the meal, dessert was a combination of ice cream and fresh fruit. While it was a tasty ending to the brunch, it felt a bit underwhelming in comparison to the incredible lineup of starters and the main course. Still, given the quality of the food and the amazing, attentive service, it is definitely worth the visit!
